When our gas grill died, I thought I'd be lost. I just love to barbeque!
Actually, our gas grill died long before it stopped working. I'll explain. All gas grills have the little red push button ignitor. Ours died about one month after we bought the grill HOWEVER..... we kept on cookin' by using the handy-dandy, old-fashioned method of using a match.
About a year later, we were about to have a few friends over for a barbeque. You guess it! The grill just would not light. We checked the tank..........we still had gas. The gas just wasn't making up to the burners.
As my husband dismantled the gas grill, I hurried to the store to buy a new one. Not wanting to take all the time in the world to assembly one, I gave in and picked out a charcoal grill.
At the time, Weber was on sale and that clinched the deal.
There was a bit of assembly required, but it was done in no time at all. We put in the charcoal and squirted it with starter fluid and tossed in a match. With a slight whoosh! it was lit. We closed the lid and prepared for our guests.
It had been so long since I cooked on charcoal, I'd forgotten how evenly the food cooks. Weber's grill makes it even better. The pot-bellied feature lets the charcoal sit low and away from the food so there's no burning the outside while leaving the inside raw. The lid (which has a wooden handle that stays cool) helps keep in the heat for faster cooking. The air vents are on the bottom so anyone going to lift the lid, won't get burned by any escaping steam.
The clean-up is a piece of cake. Located in the center of the bottom of the grill are large holes through which the charcoal ashes fall. This help keep the coals hot while cooking and aids in clean-up after the remaining coals stop burning. Just sweep the remaining ash through the holes - it falls directly into the ash catching tray that sits neatly within the tripod-formed legs.
This tray keeps ash and grease from dripping onto your patio.
Two of the legs of the tripod have wheels - for easy rolling when you want to put the grill away.
I love this grill so much, I can't imagine why we ever had a gas one.
