A Well-built Fan

I bought the Vornado 750B to circulate heated air from my wood stove and it does the job quite well. The stream of air is narrow enough to push air into other parts of the house and it can be pointed in just about any direction. It's quiet enough to still hear the TV and stereo, but tends to get a pronounced 60hz hum when you throttle it down (as do most fans). The only thing my cheapo box-fan did better was when I needed a fan to blow air through an open window or door. With a box fan I could put the fan on the windowsill or on the sliding door threshold to move cool outside air to the inside. The Vornado is not the fan for this job, although, since it is the only fan I have right now, it does get used in the doorway occasionally.
