Intro
Roller Coaster Theme Park is the right kind of game for someone who is looking to spend a large amount of their time. This is a game were use choose a theme, build your park, your roller coaster, and then manage your park. One of my favorite things about this game is that not only can you just ride the coasters but you can also ride the other rides such as giant swings, go-carts, and you can even play the side games like ti-tac toe, smash the gopher, and even pinball. The reason that you have to be willing to spend alot of time though is that you have to manage workers, and the income of the park, and if the park is set up in the best way to make money.
The reason that i bought this game was basically just to ride the roller coasters after I spent my time designing ones. But after playing it for a while i kind of fell in love with the whole running a business part of it. Not to forget though, like I said it does take up as much time as your willing to put into it and I'm not completely sure if it's even beatable.
Game Play
For the most part the gameplay in this game is not all that bad. Except for the fact that it takes a really long time to load into the game, then an even longer time to load into one of your particular parks. The time it takes to show these things is so long that they show a little clip of this animated dinosaur on stage which makes it seem even longer.
Like i was saying except for the loading time between screens the gameply is alright for this game. for example while your running around in the park or even looking at it from an overhead perspective the game rareley freezes or glitches. although it has done those things to me from time to time.
What makes the game take so long and i guess you could even say difficult is the fact that you have to hire and pay the wages of all your mechanics, needed to fix the rides. Your entertainers, needed to keep all the little kids happy. Your staff, which needed to basically do everything you dont't do in running the park. Also you must hire people to think of new ideas for rides to keep your park ahead of the competition.
All that might not seem so hard but you also have to spen time training all of you staff if you want them to be more qualified for the job. The most strenuous part i think is that you must set all the patrol areas for your workers so they can spread out and do all of their jobs in the most efficient ways. You must provide a staff room in tons of place around the park to keep them happy or else they will go on strike.
Visual
The visuals in this game are about average or just below it compared to other games. In this game you are given the ability to go down in the park and walk around and supervise everything that is going on but when you do this and put everthing in an up-close perspective the people and things in the game tend to come out a little more square looking than anything else. As long as you stay in any other veiw though, like when your riding the roller coasters I would say that the visuals are okay.
The colors in the game are also very basic and they leave a large space for improvement. If I had to rate the visuals on this game from a 1-10. I think that i would unfortunentlty have to give it a 4.
Sound
The sounds on this game are pretty basic. For example there are no songs that are playing while you play the game that only sounds that there are, are the sounds of little kids screaming on the rides and complaing about how much they hate the park if you do a bad job.
The quality of the sound in this game is definently not execptional but it's not too bad. It's probably just below average.
Controls
There really are no set controls in this game it's just really picking rides or restraunts or things of that such off a menu and placing them were you think they will do the best in you park. There are actually some basic controls but they are vary easy to figure out beacuse they are always listed in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
Themes
in the game you are given the option to build one park with a sort of jungle theme. After that once your park does certain things correctly for example if the right amount of garbage cans and security cameras are placed then you will recieve a gold star. After you recieve the required number of gold stars you can open up a second, then third, then even up to 12 parks. All of the themes of you parks are provided and they correspnd with the different types of rides that you can put in each park.
Summary
The thing that i like the most in the game is that you are given the ability to go into and interact with your park. The things that I don't like about this game is that the graphics, sound, and smoothness of the game and things in those areas are not up to par with the standards of other games, in my opinion. Overall it's an okay game if, i'll say again, your willing to put a long time in to a game that i'm not even sure has a purpose or is beatable.
