Consumer Review

Epinions

A fun game when you just want to relax.

by  SummerLove19,   May 13, 2002

Pros:  A lot of fun, and it has the ability to be extremely addicting.

Cons:  There could be a few more rides, and a few more worlds to choose from.

The Bottom Line:  It's a fun game where you get to let your imagination run away with you.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

I bought Sim Theme Park for a change from the regular Sims games that I usually play. What drew it to me was the fact that you got to ride the roller coaster's you built.

When you start the game you are given more than enough money to get a good start on your park. Although this game is extremely easy to catch onto you really have to budget your money. The only way to lose is go bankrupt.

This game is good for people who like to organize. When I started I didn't organize or watch my money. Of course I went bankrupt and ran out of room to build. When you start you get the choice of so many rides, attractions, and games to build. You have to research in order to get more stuff. Here is where more of the budgeting comes in.

To keep your park running you also have to have staff. you have to assign a certain amount of janitors in order to keep the garbage, other waste, and restrooms clean. if you do not have enough janitors your park will get dirty and people will leave. They have to be strategically placed to cover a certain area to keep clean. You have to make sure you have enough money to pay them each month, and you have to have enough staff rooms or they will go on strike.

Another employee you have to have plenty of is security guards, entertainers, repairmen, and researchers. It is hard to get just the right amounts to cover the right areas. To help out the security guards there is cameras to put in different areas of the park. But you can't just hire these staff people you also have to train them.

The main point of the game is to keep you customers happy. To do this you have to create a happy, fun and not to scary theme park. You have to make sure you have enough drink stands, food stands, and restrooms. You have to keep them interested in your theme park. New rides or ride upgrades means more people.

This is sometimes easy, sometimes not. The one thing I didn't like about this game is that when your building a new roller coaster, or riding one the game does not pause. Something could be falling apart and you'll have to get off in the middle of a roller coaster to check it out. While building a roller coaster if you have to stop to check on something it is really easy to lose where you were at. If you are working on a really complex ride it is sometimes hard to find out where you were at.

The thing I liked most about this game is not only that you could build your own roller coasters, and ride them, but you can also walk around your park and see it how everyone in the game see's it. This is probably the neatest aspect about the game. With other games like The Sims you can see what your character is doing by looking down on them. In this game you can see what they are doing by becoming to character.

You can also keep tabs of everyone in the game. There is a menu of all the people visiting your park and what they feel of it. The more people you get the more rewards you can receive.

There is four different theme worlds in this game. You start out with two that are open for you to choose from. To get the other ones open you need to collect golden tickets. Three golden tickets will get you a golden key. You need to obtain a certain amount of golden keys to get the worlds to open. There are only four worlds so after your done with the four the only thing you can do is start again.

You win by getting all the worlds open and building your parks as big as you possibly can. You reward, seeing a cool park. You lose by going bankrupt and having to start all over again.
