Good all around camera - Great for the price

I bought this camera as a take anywhere camera. It was a great deal at office depot for just over $200. I looked at a couple sony camera and the canon S5. The S5 and one of the sony cameras where to big. The canon just looked better than the compact sony.

It does have a great zoom for such a small size. The lens quality seems pretty good. I can't put it in my jeans and when in my jacket pocket it likes to pull my jacket to one side. So I bought a small camera case that slides over my belt and it can go everywhere with me and I don't notice it's there until I want to use it. So far no issues with the camera and having owned several canon cameras I don't expect any to arise. Of course it's nice to have manuals controls but most of the time I just use auto mode or scene selection unless it's a dark scene and I want to control the iso(more in next section). The original batteries lasted for about 100 pics. I have put 2 lithium batteries in and after 400 pics it is still doing great. If you don't want to spend the money on lithiums I would definitely buy some rechargeable batteries.

Picture quality is great for the most part. Even at the higher iso settings the macro shots and shots not including people are great. For some reason even at 200 iso peoples faces start to look more like paintings. If you stay at iso 80 the portraits are really nice. Other than that I really like my camera and will use it for a few years.
