Best Palm I've owned

by  pajerry,   Jan 22, 2003

Pros:  keyboard, hi-res screen, clamshell protects screen

Cons:  price, Sony came out with upgrade too soon, hinge loosens

The Bottom Line:  A winner from Sony but still needs some tweaking.

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Okay - it's slick, sexy and Sony. I got my NR70V after comparing it and a Treo - I wanted a keyboard. I have since fallen in love with the Hi-res screen and the thin form factor (I've owned an original USR Pilot & a IIIc). It does what I need it to (organize my life, store information, play MP3's) and it does these things well. The downside? The hinge loosens with time (but there's an easy fix for this at Cliesource.com). Surprisingly, I've had no problems with the turning screen - the thing I assumed would be the weak point in the design. It's longer than the Palms of yore so it feels bulky in my pocket. To fully use the MP3, movie and picture functions, you really need the 128MB memory stick. Avoid the desktop software for the music - it is way too picky about song transfer. Use the MSGate function instead.
