Smackdown vs Raw 2007 (best SvR Game)

by  mkkid28,   Jul 29, 2007

Pros:  latest available game roster, game play, Create Modes

Cons:  Glitches and faults, roster out of date, less moves

The Bottom Line:  Buy this game if you want latest roster possible, but if you could wait till November, then get SYM or HCTP till then.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Smackdown vs Raw 2007 is the best of the Smackdown v Raw games in my honest opinion.
I've played the game since release last year on both the PS2 and Xbox360.
PS2's Versions as more glitches then the 360 Version but still some faults in both. These glitches and faults are the biggest let down, as it's like they didn't even try to fix these faults such as the Wrong Commentary on Finishers and Tag Team Announcers Introduction fault.
The actual Game play is better then SvR and 2006, but SvR2007 isn't the best WWE Smackdown Series Game.
I think Smackdown Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain were better, but if you prefer current superstars instead of the out to date roster, then this is the game for you.
The Gameplay is a big improvement then last two games as it allows alot more control with your characters. The added hotspots allowing you to act witht he enviroment is a great added extra. Aswell as the analog grapple system which was to add a more wrestling feel into the Game Play.
The Graphics are great and are a huge improvement on the last game. The Graphics are better on both the PS2 and Xbox360, but the Xbox 360's graphics are better then the PS2. (2008 is out on next gen consoles (360 and PS3) as well as PS2, DS , Wii and probably PSP.)
Story Mode isn't to big and impressive as it could be. It as some over the top stupid storylines in it, but i think this is to make it different from the Actual WWE In Ring Product.
A example is that Candice turns you into a Women with her magic wand, so you can wrestle.
As on other games Spoilers were given out through the storymode, before they had even happened in WWE. I think this was so the StoryModes would be up to date when release but WWE hadn't anticipated the timing right.
There is less Superstars in this version, and it doesn't sound like we are going to get many more in 2008.
There is a good selection of Superstars but if you like a up to date roster, this can't offer it to you. You would have to download a Max Drive Save off the net with CAWs of Current Wrestlers which is good and makes the game more fun with current rosters.
If you can wait until November 2007, the new Smackdown vs Raw 2008 will be release which will be a more up to date with the addition of the ECW Brand(hopefully all faults will be fixed) and overall a better game.
If you want something to play in the mean time, pick up SYM or HCTP as they can keep you going until SvR2008 is released .
