Great machine, but activate the warranty at their website!

Pros: Compact size, great results quickly.

Cons: Difficult to reach customer service.

The Bottom Line: My feeling thus far is: Great device, one of the better ones I've ever used, but $32 is too steep of a price for 4 total quarts of ice cream.

I've had my GC8101 for 11 months now and used it only about 4 times last season. It always gave fast, predictible and most importantly GREAT results with little effort or fuss.

But, after storing it last summer in its box in the pots & pans cabinet and having always handled and cleaned it per the mfrs instructions, I opened the box this season to discover that my aluminum interior of the canister had pitted so severely that the refrigerant was puddled in the bottom of the canister making it unusable.

I called the 800 # listed on the bottom of the unit but it's disconnected and a thorough search of Rival's website only yielded me their mailing address and an Email address. This makes me fear that this unit has caused them too much grief.

I've sent an Email and am awaiting a reply, the results of which I'll try to indicate here.
