This game has a great concept. Instead of trying to collect all those cards and waste tons of money you can just buy the Pokemon Card Game and it has all the cards in it. The story starts out when you are summoned to the pokemon lab to try out a new card game that the professor has made. The card game is based on the pokemon that live in the world.

The graphics are pretty good for a game boy game. This game was designed for the game boy color so he colors are vibrant and they almost jump off the screen. The pokemon are beautifully drawn and when you use a move the card moves around and a little graphic appears showing what happened. Like if it is a lightning move a little lightning bolt will come down and hit the card.

The music is pretty good for a game boy game and shows just how much the system has come since it was introduced. The music is appropriate to whatever club you are in. If you are in the fight club the music sounds like fighting music.

There are hundreds of cards in this game including about 5 variations of Pikachu. The way you get cards is when you beat an opponent they give you packs of cards to use and also the professor gives you cards from time to time. You can make your own decks and you can carry up to 4 at a time. If you made extra decks you can store the designs in a design machine. If you don’t want to totally destroy a deck you can store it in the deck machine but you still keep the cards. You can also play in tournaments in the beginners hall where you play for the special promo cards. . The point is to collect badges by battling opponents from all 8 clubs. The clubs are the science club, fire club, green club, aqua club, fight club, electric club, and stone club. Each club has the kind of cards that their name says except the science club has varied pokemon cards. Also there is a thing called a card pop. The way you do this is to connect you game with a friend through the infrared port and the game will do some math and you will both get a unique card. The catch is you can only do this once with each game pack.

The control is very easy all you have to do is pick which action you want and select it. Also if you never played before they give you a tutorial at the beginning of the game and guide you through a game.

Overall I would recommend this game to pokemon fanatics and anyone who likes card games. I just wish they had thought of this when Magic cards were still popular.
