I purchased this game right before Christmas as I was lucky enough to find a GameBoy to give to my son (then almost 5) for Christmas. I figured this game would be simple enough for him, yet entertaining. I certainly was right; however what I didn't realize is that the game would be entertaining and amusing for both us. He didn't quite get the idea of the game, so Mom came to the rescue and helped him out. It ended up that I did the playing, with him looking over my shoulder anxiously awaiting my every move. And to be honest with you, I was hooked! I always enjoyed pinball and the challenge of this game was great. I started playing BLUE first, and mastered that (even though I didn't get all the Pokemon in BLUE) and now am working on catching as many Pokemon as I can in RED.
This was a great learning tool for my son to memorize all his Pokemon. As you catch them, they are saved in a Pokadex and you are given basic stats about each. My son was captivated and is so exited when we catch a new one!
The instruction book contained in the game was helpful, although I would have liked to see some information about how to get through the various bonuses. I always get to the Mewtwo bonus and can't figure out what to do to clear it! Almost one year has passed and we still play this game one or two times a week.
We recently rented the Little Mermaid II pinball game, but without the instruction book (the video store did not provide it) it was difficult to figure out what to do and how were were accumulating points. I feel that Pokemon Pinball is much easier to figure out if you don't have the instruction booklet.
Anyways, I would highly recommend this game to adults and children alike. It's great fun for all.
