Pros:  -Great Game -Good Link Cable Usage -Great replay value

Overall Rating: 5/5 stars

Author's Review

This is more of a review for if you haven't bought this game, red or yellow version before. I'm going to rate this very high, but look to my red and yellow reviews if you are thinking of buying a second one, they are all about the same.

First let me tell you about Pokemon, if you already know, I am going to enlighten you. In the game (the game, I know there's like 251 pokemon that everyone knows about) there are 150 pokemon that you can catch (1 more, mew, that you can get with game shark). You capture them inside a pokeball, and you can use them in battles. They raise levels and become stronger, learning new attacks and evolving into more powerful forms along the way. Also there are different types of Pokemon. This is like a big rock, paper, scissors game, all the types have a weakness, and an advantage against (except Dragon, Dragon has no advantages). For this game you go around the world hunting for more powerful pokemon and trying to become the world's best trainer.

This game is a great RPG for the Game Boy. It has rebounded the Game Boy, killing the sales of the Nomad and Game Gear from Sega. This is why you see so many Color Game Boys and Game Boy Pockets everywhere, because of this single game.
And it is not overrated. This game is fun and if you watch the show, you will play it for hours on end. The Graphics are ok, better than such games as Super Mario Land or Tetris, a lot better. And the sound is not horribly bad, but of course all music sounds like annoying tinkling on the Game Boy. The game play is great and it is very user friendly, you see 4 and 5 year olds playing it all the time. There is a lot of interaction with other people outside the game too. Using the link cable, you can play with your friends and have battles against each other, or trade pokemon. And using the Game Shark you can get all 151 pokemon.
