Pokemon Blue, it's a shame that kids like it :)

I'm a big fan of rpg games, and it makes me feel a little uncomfortable to say that I like pokemon blue. At first, I thought that the game was going to be a joke; I heard about all the pokefanatic kids running around watchting their kids show, but upon several plane rides with my gameboy, I found that the game is deeply involved and requires actual skill.


Storyline

The storyline is simple; your a boy named (enter your own name for custimization :P) Ash and you want to be a pokemon master; A pokemon master is someone that has captured all 150 pokemon creatures. It similar to an animal catcher, except that the pokemon fight and have emotions. From their you start off with a pokemon and you have to battle your way through the thick forests ad vegetation to icrease your pokemon's ad badges (medals awarded for winning at specific dojo's).

Of course, there are plenty of sub-plots to throw you off and get you hooked on the game, but the core of it is capturing them and training/battle.

battle

The battle in the game is turn based fighting. At first it was tiresome, but as your pokemon become more advanced, choosing the right attack/pokemon is vital. The winner of a battle wins after the opponents fighting pokemon loose.

The real intresting thing is when you get 2 gameboy's hooked up and you get into multiplayer battle. It's both fun to fight, and fun to trade.


All in all this is a great game for you pokemon kids, or ay adults that like rpg games from Squaresoft (not only Square :))
