Epinions Pentax MZ-S

by  fbphx,  Nov 30, 2002
Pros: Quick and simple to operate. Compact Size Well Built
Cons: 2.5 fps, body design makes aperture control on bigger lenses difficult, eyepiece keeps slipping off.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommend this camera. Easy to use and easy control of the manual settings. Compact and well built. Autofocus is as fast as the Nikon F100s my friends own.
Review: I've used my Pentax PZ1-P for almost 6 years and recently upgraded to the MZ-S. I like the MZ-S' solid build, compact size and the way Pentax has laid out the controls for quick manual manipulation. For example, simple dedicated knobs allow you to...

Epinions I need to re-write this review after owning this camera! It's so good...

by  ricehigh,  Aug 14, 2001
Pros: Solid-built, Compact&Lightweight, Ergonomically Excellent, Superior "Hyper-Operation", Data Imprinting, Midroll-Rewind&Reload Mode, Very Carefully Designed! Complete Accessories
Cons: X=1/180th, Film Advance Speed of 2.5fps, Line AF CCD Sensors
The Bottom Line: Pentax must have put great efforts in developing this camera. Anyone knows and appreciates?
Review: I previously wrote a "not recommend" review here and a copy of the review is kept here at the bottom. However, after my purchase of this camera, when I found a very good offer at US$705 last week, I'm starting to appreciate very much how wonderful my...

Epinions Pentax MZ-S

by  john_coyle,  Sep 12, 2001
Pros: Build quality, fast AF, controls design, compatibility
Cons: Reported battery consumption by some users, unique cable release required.
The Bottom Line: I have had no hesitation in buying this camera after reading extensive user reports over the two months of it's availability, from people who were sometimes initially critical.
Review: Cannot agree with many of the points raised here.
1. More than the top-plate is made of magnesium alloy.
2. The program functions really are used very occasionally, as they set operating parameters which do not need consideration for every...

Epinions Most User Friendly Camera Ever!

by  zone05,  Jan 21, 2002
Pros: wireless flash, data imprint, DOF preview switch, slanted top panel
Cons: batteries don't last long
The Bottom Line: For those in the market for a camera that you can customize to your needs quickly, this is by far the best one I have ever come across.
Review: I have used may different cameras, but none is as easy to use as this one. Most others have program dials or buttons. It is just as easy to use as my old Konica T3. Since I am used to turning dials, this is the best. You can also do anything you want in...

Epinions Good camera with some weaknesses

by  phodographer,  Dec 18, 2003
Pros: Lightweight, metering system, strong body, good layout, takes all Pentax manual focus and autofocus lenses
Cons: Aperture ring hard to use, sync speed only 1/180th, film advance only 2.5fps,accessories selection, price
The Bottom Line: Very good camera, but ..If you have pro Pentax lenses and no pro body, try MZ-S. If you start from scratch, go with something else.
Review: First of all, MZ-S and MZ-S QD are the same cameras. QD stands for quartz date(back) and all MZ-S to my knowledge have quartz date backs. I have owned an MZ-S for a while. While it may be nearly the best Pentax body in many respects, it does have ...
