Disappointing where it counts

About the product: Over-the-ear boom headset. Earpiece inserts into ear and has 3 different sizes for the rubber piece (S, M, L). Loop over ear "locks" into place once the earpiece is in the ear. Has volume control and mute button. Fits standard 2.5mm jacks.

What I liked: The design (or look, rather) and feature set are quite nice, especially for the pricepoint (sale for $20). I also liked the fact that there were different size rubber inserts. I didn't have any problems hearing the other party, as the volume was pretty good. There is a shirt clip and the cord is plenty long.

What I did not like: It did not fit well. After adjusting the earpiece/boom to my liking, snapping the ear loop into place repositions the whole thing, causing the boom to rest against my cheek. Every word I spoke would be accompanied by the sound of the mic rubbing my face. Without the loop snapped, the earpiece was just way too loose and would fall out. Also, is it too much to ask to have a mute button that you do not have to hold down? I would imagine it would be difficult to drive and hold the mute button down at the same time. One-touch operation is what I wanted, but is not what I got. The packaging does not make this clear.

Overall: This failed in 2 of 3 key areas for me. The volume was good. +1. The fit did not deliver at all. Big -1. The lack of one-touch mute, which I also expected, was not present. -1. I only wish I had been able to test this out before I bought it. This will be returned tomorrow.
