Author's Review
I had previously owned a Braun 5000/6000 series electric razor, and had been moderately pleased with the results. While not close as a blade, the convenience (at the time) was worth it. Each razor lasted a couple of years, with the batteries dying and not capable of holding a charge.
I read about the ES8092NC when I was about to buy the next Braun. It didn't require the cleaning solution, had a longer life of both the blade and the foil, and the battery couldn't be overcharged (and as a nickel metal hydride - cf. nickel cadmium - shouldn't have a memory issue). As well, it is a wet/dry razor, which added the option to use in the shower.
Despite the $30 or so cost difference, the reviews here were quite positive, so I made the decision to buy. Others have listed the key attributes of the razor, so I'll not repeat them here. Suffice to say that either wet or dry, the razor gives me a better shave than I ever got with my old Braun series razors, and wet with a thin layer of foam, it is as good as a blade. I used to have to supplement my shaving with a blade for neck and under my chin, but with the 'soft' setting on the razor, I can get the wild direction stubble under control. So far, the charge has lasted well (it's only been a couple of weeks) but I can get by with one charge about every 7 days and still have about 40% charge left. The cleaning aspect with the turbo mode works well, and the ability to wash the razor under water (without the additional cost of cleaning solutions) is a great feature.
The only downside I've found is the lack of a lock key to prevent the razor from turning on when in a travel bag. Other than that, I'm really pleased with the results, the quality and features.
