Author's Review
You know everything you've heard about "first impressions"?
Well, believe it.
Prologue
I've been shaving with the Mach III Turbo, having not used an electronic razor regularly in years.
Always pre-heat skin with hot cloth, and shave in shower using Edge gel.
Reason for Change
Mach III gives a very close shave, but (using a new blade each time) still have a hard time with cuts, and major razor burn.
Was getting expensive buying blades, and takes me 20-25 minutes to shave.
Needed something more expeditious (less cuts, less razor burn, less time, less cost).
Decision Time
First I researched how to get best shave (subjective as everybody's different). I decided that when I purchased an elec I would attempt dry shaving first.
Second, I read many reviews.
Then decided to take the leap.
First Shave
My first shave was the best I've had in years, no comparison.
I shaved dry, first thing in the morning, before shower, using Williams Lectric Pre-Shave.
This is what my research recommended for a dry shave.
I have a very thick beard, but had no problem cutting it all (though required multiple passes in difficult places).
Also impressive for me was the lack of razor burn.
I only had one small area on my face that showed even the least bit of red after I was done, and "before" I applied after-shave lotion.
Comparisons
#1 - Braun
I tried a Braun electric last year for about a week.
(don't remember the model)
You're supposed to give electrics 3-4 weeks, but the razor burn was bad enough I gave up (probably too soon).
It most likely would have been okay after a while.
But the Panasonic had little to no razor burn "on the very first shave".
#2 - Mach III Turbo
As mentioned in opening paragraph, have been using this since it came out.
The Panasonic is faster, no cuts, no razor burn of which to speak.
Concluding Comments
First, I emphasize that I'm shaving dry, and because of the success, I don't think I'm even going to try wet with this razor.
Second, this is definitely the "best shave" I've ever had using either blade or electronic.
Third, my wife backs up this review. She can't stand kissing me with a rough face, but agrees this matches the close shave of the Mach, without the downsides.
She also likes the fact that in 5-10 min, with no mess, I can get another one just like it.
Purchased: Amazon
