Epinions The New Kid on the Block

by  mjoeyb,  Jun 10, 2002
Pros: Reasonably fast, inexpensive, USB interface, bright future for the technology
Cons: Driver installation could be better
The Bottom Line: This is a great tape backup device for small office/home office environments. For anyone who’s personal hard drive is filling up a bit too quickly.
Review: Ah! The digital age! There’s nothing quite like it. This is a time where information is now contained on arcane ones and zeros that represent thoughts, ideas, papers, reports, projects, music, and video.

Epinions Hardware good, software bad

by  almacy,  Jan 24, 2003
Pros: Reliable (so far, anyway)
Cons: Their driver and backup software didn't work, so can't use compression
The Bottom Line: If you have your own backup software, or are willing to use NTBackup, this drive may be OK for you.

The Bottom Line: I do not recommend this hardware. Now that the OnStream site is gone, this device is no longer supported. It works great, but only when it is working properly!
Review: I am an IT Manager and I've had experience with several of the USB 30 drives, the IDE drives in both ...

Epinions Look elsewhere for a backup system

by  mbarr126,  Apr 28, 2002
Pros: backs up 15-30GB tape
Cons: flimsy door, breaks easy
The Bottom Line: Attractive way of backing up but not very efficient, cheap casing!
Review: I replaced an old tape backup system with the Onstream drive with a 15/30GB internal scuzzi Onstream backup system for a couple years and it is slow. The door broke easily. I heard of others having the same problem with the door. It takes way too long...
