Slim and sleek, large capacity, good performance

I recently added the 8GB OCZ Technology Rally2 USB flash drive to my collection of USB devices. OCZ makes good flash devices and the 8GB Rally2 is no exception. The USB drive is housed a slippery black aluminum case, that's thin and about the two and a half inches long. The thin case won't block adjacent USB ports which can be important if your USB ports are packed close together. The Rally2 flash drive has a bright amber LED that's easily visible from all sides.

The OCZ Rally2's performance is good, but not great. I was able to get write speeds of about eight megabytes per second when writing large megabyte plus size files. That's very acceptable performance. I think that most people will probably use the 8GB OCZ Rally2 as a backup device for their MP3's and digital photos, so that once the files are written, it's unlikely they will be changed frequently.

My biggest concern about the OCZ Rally2 is the cap. The fits snugly now but with wear, I think it will loosen up. It's only held on by friction, so it's likely to get lost especially if you carry it on a keychain in your pocket or purse. The OCZ Rally2 also includes a thin gray lanyard so that you can wear it around your neck.
