Great Game for Beginners

Those old timers in the video game world might be a little disappointed by The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass. Despite the great graphics, wonderful stylus controls, catchy music, and a cast of new characters, the game surprised me with its ease.

It was really fun the way they made new characters part of the controls for the game. Like Link's trusty fairy. Instead of just appearing when Link is in need of a bit of help, in Phantom Hourglass the fairy leads the way. Of course, this means the player has to be careful about jumping off ledges, since the fairy doesn't seem to realize that Link can't fly.

The combined cast of old and new characters is a real treat. It was fun to travel to all the different islands and speak to the various inhabitants, some of which gave little quests to complete. There was a lot to do, even if the game itself was shorter than all the previous Zelda games.

Because it's a shorter than any other Zelda game, and easier, it's a great game for those new to the Zelda games. You don't have to be a beginner to be able to enjoy the game, though. I liked it, and know that in the not-too-distant future, I'll be playing it again.
