Most likely people don't notice the little flaws we are self-conscious about. In my case, it is genetic puffiness under my eyes. My Mom has the problem, and my sister to a much lesser degree. Of course I'm not talking about puffiness that people get after a rough night partying or drinking. I assume that can be taken care of by a relatively inexpensive beauty product.

A little about Dr. Howard Murad from his website:

Widely acknowledged as one of the country’s foremost authorities on skincare, Howard Murad, M.D. has devoted his life to the science of internal and external skincare.

A board-certified dermatologist with a thriving practice in El Segundo, California, a trained pharmacist, and Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UCLA, Dr. Murad has built a patient base of nearly 50,000 people.

Over the years, treating such a wide variety of individuals presenting every conceivable kind of skin condition, gave him direct insight into what his patients wanted and needed to care for their skin at home. This inspired him to develop his own line of skincare products. Putting theory into practice, Dr. Murad developed targeted formulas to alleviate even the most frustrating skin concerns. Murad® skincare’s success is no accident for the results speak for themselves
.

For my puffiness, I've tried many different products, some inexpensive, some more costly. None have shown visible results other than to my wallet. It is very frustrating, and like many people I find surgery to be costly, and something I'd rather avoid regardless.

I am quite familiar with Dr. Murad, and in fact went to him for facials for myself and my 2 sons when they were teenagers. I was impressed with him and the products that were used for the facials. I went to Dr. Murad's website to see what they offered. I was excited by the description of the Moisture Silk Eye Gel, and thought perhaps it would work. Yes, at this point I am quite cynical but thought it would be worth a try. The website was acting up that day so I went to a local beauty supply store, and was thrilled they had the product. It was not inexpensive at $42-$45 (I can't remember the exact price). The owner of the beauty supply store told me that it would take a couple of weeks to three weeks to see any results, and not to expect 100% reduction of the puffiness, but instead about 30% reduction. I appreciated his honesty, and felt like any improvement would make me feel more self-confident about the problem.

What it is:

It is a very lightweight gel that they state will hydrate, remove the puffiness, soften and soothe the area around the eyes, and provide a silky finish.

Who is it recommended for?:

It is for all skin types. This is always a concern of mine as I have sensitive skin.

Directions:

Use daily after cleansing and toning. Simply pat a very small amount onto the brow bone and beneath the eye. I just use under the eye.

Packaging:

It comes in a small box- product is 5 oz- it is a small container with a push down top and a clear plastic cover protecting it. You just release a small amount of product.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Cyclomethicone, Algae Extract, Butylene Glycol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Glycerin, Sodium Carbomer, Siloxanetriol Alginate, Caffeine, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Laminaria Saccharina Extract, Anthemis Noblis Flower Extract, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Sodium PCA, Ascorbic Acid, Boron Nitride, Panthenol, Allantoin, Benzophenone-4, Disodium EDTA, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Cinnamomum Cassia Leaf Oil, Citrus Grandis(Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Oil

Scent/consistency:

The scent is light and hardly noticeable. The consistency is not runny; nor is it heavy. It is a light airy whitish liquid.

Where to purchase:

You can purchase this product at Dr. Murad's website, other websites offering beauty supplies, or websites that offer various products including beauty products, or of course you can go to brick and mortar providers of his products. The best prices will most likely be online.

My experience:

I honestly don't think someone with puffiness like mine will have the results they wish without surgery. Having said that I am quite pleased with this product. I have been using it twice daily for about 3 months now, and still have not run out of the product-a lot goes a long way! I would say that the bags have been reduced to about 50% of the size they were. However, do understand if I stop using the product at all, I will be back to square one.

Final thoughts:

This is an excellent albeit not perfect product. It has substantially reduced the puffiness under my eyes and therfore increased my self confidence. I have had no ill effects; skin reactions, and am impressed by the ingredients. I feel I look fairly young for my age as I have very little, almost no wrinkles, so the puffiness is really the only issue in my opinion. I'm sure allergies exacerbate the problem also. My only concern about the product is the cost. It ranges from high $30's to mid-$40's, and while I'm sure there are products that are double the cost, this is quite a bit for me, and as noted above, a little goes a long way. I am giving the product 4 1/2 stars and rounding up to 5 stars. It is the best I've found for my frustrating beauty flaw. Many thanks to the beauty/health category leads: Shantel and Liss, for adding this product for me.

Thanks for reading!
