Good try but still needs work......

I got this headset awhile ago because I wanted wireless chat and sound for playing online games. It doesn't work well for this. My largest objection is that the microphone doesn't seem to be noise canceling or just doesn't noise cancel very well, you also seem to need to speak rather loud for the person on the other end to hear you well.

Setup:
Plug the headset into a usb port and charge the battery. I bought mine oem it didn't come with a charger or even a usb cable. Supposedly any motorola charger with a mini usb on the end will charge this headset (like the v360 or the razr chargers). It uses a stock mini usb connector, these cables are not expensive and chances are if you're a tech nut you've already got one in your collection.
If you're using it with your laptop or desktop, you need a bluetooth 3.0 dongle and software to fully support all the capabilities of this headset.
On most phones bluetooth is off by default and must be turned on in you're phone setup.
Pair the headset with the device. To get this headset into pairing mode first press the left side for three seconds to be sure it's off, then press the left side for six seconds until the light slowly lights and stays steady, if it's blinking it's not in pair mode. Use your phone or other device to discover the headset and select it. Password, like all bluetooth devices, is 0000.

Controls:
Each side of the headset has a button with the motorola M in the center of it, the left button controls on/off and pairing modes, the right button is mostly for picking up calls but I believe it has some other functions too depending on how you tap it (lost my book don't remember). The left button has a forward and back button for music player control and the right button has volume up and down buttons.

Operation:
Once you turn it (hold left button for three seconds) on then it's ready to make a phone call, just pick up your phone and dial your number. This headset does support voice dialing functions if your phone has that (I would guess it would work best with motorola phones with those functions). To answer a call you hit the right button for a second. The headset produces various tones that tell you what's going on. Note: Don't lose your book like I did, yeah it's not the best but so far I haven't been able to find a replacement online for it. Motorola (at least the US site) doesn't even acknowledge the existence of this product, it must have been released outside the US only (got mine on ebay). When using this headset with a pc some of the function is controlled from your bluetooth software desktop (normally provided with your dongle). The headset works fine with 32 bit xp operating system but haven't had a chance to thoroughly test it with 64 bit xp operating system (although microsoft does provide the bluetooth stack they don't provide a fancy desktop for it).

What I think of it:
I think they made a mistake when they didn't put the microphone on a boom. Being back by the ear, the microphone just doesn't pick up as well as a headset that puts the microphone closer to your mouth or the side of your face at least. The sound quality for playing music is fine, when I tried to use it for chatting in teamspeak and listening to sound output for my online game (simultaneously), that didn't work so well. If you search online you'll find several forum conversations about this product and how it's incompatible with some phones....so I daresay the issues on the pc may have to do with the dongle you're using with it and/or the software. When I tried to use it for game sound output it was choppy and dropped the connection a lot (I haven't tried lately with my newer 3x MSI dongle and 64 bit OS). The only phone I've used this headset with a lot is my new Kyocera strobe, it seems to work very well except that I feel like I have to speak up a bit louder when I use it and it works better in a quiet environment than a noisy one but people do say they can hear me ok when standing next to a noise source such as a television. The headset sounds great with my phone, vastly superior to the really crappy speaker on this phone and at least on this phone, sound output is provided to both ears and not just one (so the phone supports stereo bluetooth apparently). I don't agree with the comment someone made that it's uncomfortable to wear, I find it quite comfortable I suppose if you had a somewhat fat skull you might find it a little tight. It is a bit heavy, most of which weight is probably the battery and then the speaker magnets (it does seem to have some very nice quality speakers in it). Most of the time when I use this headset I'm laying down on the couch or reclining in the easy chair, the style of "behind the head" headband that this uses is not too annoying when you're leaning back but I suppose it may annoy some folks. I like it, I think at 90 bucks it was pricey but most good bluetooth headsets sell around that price point so for stereo I guess it isn't bad.

update: I've tried this is with a few different phones since I've had it, some worked some don't. I just got a tmobile wing, this unit works great with this phone and the stereo support is better than I've heard with other phones. There are newer models stereo bluetooth that may be superior but this one works fine with this new phone at least so far.
