Epinions Accurate, reliable GPS

by  klazar,  Jan 29, 2007
Pros: Good accuracy, easy use, nice software
Cons: nothing
The Bottom Line: I recommend for those who want a good gps without breaking the bank. It is reliable and accurate- thats all you really need.
Review: Before I bought the 400 I owned the Explorist 100. It was perfect, no problems but I wanted to upgrade. I am an avid geocacher and explorer. I went back and forth between the 500 and 400, even looking at the Garmins. I read a lot of reviews and found ...

Epinions Does Not Work On a Network System

by  ladouglas,  Feb 2, 2007
Pros: Unit itself works well
Cons: Clumsy to use on home computer and does not work with Network System
The Bottom Line: Do not purchase if it is to be installed on a Network and be prepared to solve only simple issue with the Tech Support.

Epinions great GPS, awful customer service

by  beauxp,  Aug 10, 2006
Pros: Great package for the price ($170 at basicjunk.com)
Cons: Support is the worst I have ever seen
The Bottom Line: GPS unit is solid. Easy to use (read the manual) Does the job for less $$. Support is just about the worse that I have seen.
Review: First unit I bought was bad. Had to send it back. I talked to support, did not have to hold long, but they seem rather inept. I got the feeling that they were just reading a manual. The unit would not power up all they way. I called support and they told ...

by  havaharley,  Feb 10, 2007
Pros: Can't think of a thing good to say.
Cons: Terrible lack of customer service- where is the service? Terrible user's manual-
The Bottom Line: Don't buy Magellan anything- customer service is lacking in many ways--
Review: My husband bought me a Geocaching Bundle package which included the Magellan Explorist 400 at the end of September 2006. I had many problems in the four months which followed, which were complicated by the extremely dissatisfying customer service I ...

Epinions Do not buy this gps unit (or anything else from Magellan)

by  timmslau,  May 26, 2006
Pros: none
Cons: horrible customer support, non-intuitive user interface, spontaneously deletes data, out of date manuals
The Bottom Line: Do not buy this product (unless you enjoy frustration).
Review: I am entirely dissatisfied with my (brief) experience as an owner of a Magellan Explorist 400. First, the user manuals sent with the Explorist 400 and the accompanying MapSend Topo Canada software are inadequate. The user manuals are short, ...
