The Bottom Line:
This game is, simply put, a good baseball game with a lot of "extras" that most fans will like.

If you are looking for a boring baseball game this is not it. You will only find a realistic (maybe too realistic at times) game that provides fun for everyone who loves a good ol game of baseball.
Here are some of the major modes in this game (at least the ones that I like)
Expansion
Maybe you think there are too many teams in major league baseball today. Who cares. With the expansion mode in this game you can put a major league team in Brooklyn or even Alaska. There are also lots of names to pick for your new team, though, I didnt find more than two decent ones. If you want to go through a season as an expansion team be prepared. You have to draft a team from the scraps of other teams. So dont expect to win every game.
Season
You can play a regular season with an expansion team or with any existing team. You can change your lineup, your batting order. There is even a farm (minor league) team to use if you want. You can choose one of three levels to play on, Rookie, Veteran and All-Star. An average game lasts about 45 minutes which is a long time for a video game. But one way to speed it up is by simply putting the game on fast mode in game options. This puts the batters in the batters box quicker and shortens the pitchers pre-pitching motion (stretching, scratching, whatever pitchers do before they actually pitch the ball).
Exhibition
You can play with any current team or you can unlock them with cards.
Cards
This last category grew on me slowly. The idea here is to collect as many cards as possible in order to unlock something new. For example, a new (alternative, maybe a old time) uniform that you can use in during an exhibition game. You can also unlock new teams. These teams are mostly fictitious and usually have one outstanding trait about them. The Dingers for example are a made up team who can hit a lot of homeruns.
Obviously there are going to be some flaws. No game is perfect. I dont like the fact that in almost every game there is at least one error committed. I know errors happen more often than that in real life but I was used to playing games where an error happened once every other season. It takes some time to get used to it, but you do eventually. Another problem I had was with controls of the game. They are a little tough at first but get easier as you play more games.
Overall: B+, A- (too close to call)
I highly recommend
