Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare... I now understand addiction.

I never really understood why people stayed up all night the day Madden was released, or why college kids would skip classes all day and play video games. Now that I own Call of Duty 4... I get it.

I wouldn't consider myself and avid player of video games. Yes I do own an xbox 360, but up until last month I probably only played a couple of hours a week. That was until my brother rented Call of Duty 4. Start with the Single player campaign and get introduced to the world of Modern Warefare. Although the single player campaign was a little short, shock and awe are the only words I can use to describe the realism of the single player storyline. However, the single player campaign did not take too long to complete and playing the game at a harder level did not add much except that I "died" more often.

Where the game really excells is in its multiplayer play. With a large mix of maps and several different game types I have often found myself thinking, "my god its 4am I have to go to bed." There are 6 different games modes ranging from the old free-for-all standby to complicated team based objective-oriented modes. Also to complicate matters more, the multiplayer mode uses a progressive skill system to unlook weapons and abilities. Unlike other first person shooters where the player who gets to the "good" weapons first often dominates, you get to choose the weapons you play with, and as you get better using your weapons (by killing people) you are rewarded. Bottom line... Its more addictive than cocaine.
