Sony has mapped its way into the portable GPS market with the NV-U70T. The touch-screen display is 3.5 inches, and has an 80-degree viewing angle. It comes with a “smart cradle” and attaches with a one-touch release suction cup. Sounds like Sony supplied its own GPS chip for the nav-u, and it has a dynamic re-routing capability and can connect to real-time traffic information via TMC (Traffic Message Channel) where available. You won’t have any trouble hearing the nav-u tell you when to “turn left” because it is outfitted with a two-way speaker system that includes a “funky 1.6 Woofer at the back and a Tweeter in the front. Get Lost? Never!

Pros: Clear Audio, Automatic Screen Dimmer, Battery Operation

Cons: Price (Unless on clearance), Not Easy Input of Addresses, No Updates Yet.

The Bottom Line: The ups far out way the downs and if you travel a lot and are in your car, the help that the Nav U70 gives is worth the extra bucks.

Pros: GPS has wonderful display and guidance functions in it's preloaded state.

Cons: Long, long map load times with a potential problem loading maps.

The Bottom Line: I would not purchase this device as I believe it is a newbie in the GPS market and may have flaws.

Review: My wife (for whom the GPS was purchased to use in her automible travels) and I were very pleased with this product with the preloaded USA map which takes up all of the GPS's 1GB of memory. To use area maps - East Coast Map A - in this case, the USA map ...
